Couple:Bryan & Carleigh
Carleigh, ‘Cat,’ and Bryan, are a real geek chic couple. They are kind, considerate, and know how to have fun. Their romance stretches back more than nine years! Cat and Bryan grew up together; first, as high school friends traveling in the same group, until their relationship naturally eased into a romance. They’ve shared countless adventures, are proud owners of two adorable bunnies, and now they are husband and wife.
They have their way of doing things and a singular style unique to them. After all, not every bride can pull off a gorgeous gown while sporting white Doc Martin boots. They also share an affection for Star Wars. Cat says, “I grew up liking Star Wars. When I met Bryan, who LOVES Star Wars, it made me grow to appreciate it even more. Now we both have Boba Fett tattoos! It’s an authentic universe to immerse yourself in, with so many storylines and characters to obsess over.’
‘I wanted to make sure our wedding day felt comfortable, not stuffy. We felt like a nod to Star Wars was the easiest way to bring our personalities to the event while making it a day everyone could enjoy. Han and Leia are the obvious couple people think of most in the franchise, and they are a great couple to look up too. Han and Leia both take turns saving each other, never ask each other to change, and their differences seem to complement one another in the best way. I see a lot those qualities in Bryan and me.”
An intimate pre-ceremony moment honored Cat’s mother who passed more than a decade ago when Cat and her sister were still young adolescents. The couple and wedding party wrote special messages to Mom, sharing the words they would have said to her, were she still alive and with them on this day of all days. The balloons were gathered together, and Cat and Bryan released them high into the sky and towards the heavens.
The couple selected the American Visionary Art Museum for the ceremony and reception. This beautiful Baltimore treasure stands apart in the wedding venue world, with iconic artwork around every corner, like a pink tulle poodle, and a larger than life statue of John Water’s Divine.
The wedding is full of fun details like Star Wars boutonniere pins, paper flower bouquets, and a photo booth with light sabers and a Chewbacca mask. Cat explains, “Wedding planning is super stressful but incorporating Star Wars made it so much more fun! Getting a moon tapestry made, hunting down the Star Wars Lego pieces for our boutonnières, and meticulously cutting out shapes from comic books for our place cards was a blast! Funny story though, the only thing Bryan and I ever bickered about during the entire wedding planning process was which planets from Star Wars to name the tables after!”
As the reception drew to an end, the party didn’t stop. In step with their personalities, Cat and Bryan skipped the traditional wedding send-off. Instead, they took the party to Fells Point bar hopping on the harbor. We are happy to see them tie the knot. May the Force be with them. – Photos By Kintz
