Love is the Destination: Hamza & Kym

Couple Story: Hamza & Kym

Hamza and I met 10 years ago to the day we got married on, which is why the 20th of August 2016 was such a special date for us from the offset with planning the wedding. Coming from two different cultures, Muslim and Christian, it was really important for us to be able to blend this into our special day along with the travel theme we already had in mind. Having both travelled together lots prior to our wedding, and also feeling like we had come on a long journey to finally get to the wedding day, the travel theme fit perfectly. In terms of the planning, we started early! We had a 2 and ½ year engagement, because we wanted to be able to enjoy the full run up to the wedding. This included hand making lots of the decorations, designing my own bespoke evening dress with Adrian and Ben from BAHBUA, and also the ability to plan our very own Asian themed evening party – something not many of our guests had ever experienced before! When the big day finally arrived it was perfect – I’m sure I am biased when saying this, but it really was. It rained the whole week prior, and the day before the wedding! So to see blue skies and sunshine was amazing. When everything came together it was amazing to see – all of the hard work and effort that had gone into planning each part of the day was perfect and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended. We chose not to go on honeymoon directly after the wedding, and I can honestly say it was the best decision we made! Going 3 weeks after the wedding meant we were able to enjoy going through all of our cards, gifts and wedding photos whilst not rushing to catch a plane! The Maldives was beautiful and didn’t fail to delight.”
