Texas Hill Country Spring Wedding: Trey & Christin

Couple: Trey & Christin

I absolutely love the opportunity to photograph the weddings of couples that have had to endure a long distace relationship across continents. There’s something special about getting to see all those years of having to be apart come to an end.

Trey and Christin met in Germany back in 2010 when he studied abroad in Leipzig. Christin was working at a volunteer agency at the time when 8 Texas students arrived in her hometown. Part of Trey’s study requirement was volunteer work. So Christin organized the volunteer work for the exchange students. Both of them were assigned to a homeless shelter where they entertained the staff and occupants of the shelter. Trey played the guitar and Christin sang for them. That’s how they connected instantly. They began dating, and when he left Germany, they were committed to a long distance relationship for about 5 years. They visited each other, Skyped for hours a day, and traveled back and forth until Christin was able to study in Austin for a semester. After that Trey moved to Germany for a job at the UN, where they were able to be together for two years. When his contract ended he proposed to her after 6 years of relationship. They had the beautiful historic Dresdner Zwinger in the background when he held up her beautiful golden ring. As Christin told me, “It was such an intimate moment and it felt so right after such a long journey!” They decided to move to America and build a life together in Austin. They were able to finally marry in Dripping Springs, just outside of Austin, TX, on March 5th, 2016 after 6 1/2 years of dating! – Donny Tidmore Photography
