Winter Sunrise Engagment: Riley & Trista

Couple: Riley & Trista

Photographer’s Note: It was quite the foggy morning for Riley and Trista’s engagement session in Rocky Mountain National Park. Since they were holding their wedding in July, we decided on a snowy, winter engagement session. Once we got into the park, the fog was so thick we were worried we wouldn’t be able to see the sunrise through the dense clouds. Just as the sun was lifting over the horizon, the sun barely peaked through the clouds. During the winter months, Colorado can have quite the crazy weather. As soon as we started on our way to another location within the park, the sun came streaming through the fresh snow that began to fall. Although it was only a mere 25 degrees outside, Riley and Trista tromped through nearly a foot of fresh snow (without coats) to get that magical winter look that they were after. For our final destination, the sun had fully come out and the snow stopped falling. Even though she was wearing heeled boots, Trista and Riley were true adventurers – they were more than willing to climb on the ice covered rocks for some final mountain portraits.
