Couple: Matt & Mallory
Matt and Mallory met through mutual friends back in 2008. They were friends for a couple of years, always staying up late at parties and arguing over their favorite Bond character (Matt loves Timothy Dalton). Mallory moved to Knoxville for grad school at the University of Tennessee in 2010. Matt was working at the University of Georgia in Athens. They maintained their long distance relationship for two years. After Mallory graduated, she moved back to Athens to be with Matt. Mallory was apprehensive about moving in with Matt – he’s very particular about his toothpaste – but the transition was seamless, just as Matt had predicted. They added a sweet puppy to their family in 2013. Teddy Roosevelt is a grumpy Havanese pup, who enjoys the attention of being a single dog. Teddy even made a guest appearance in their engagement photos.
They bought their first house in 2014 in Athens. They have enjoyed fixing up their home thanks to Mallory’s never-ending to-do list. This made their home the perfect backdrop for Mallory and Matt’s first look. After their first look, the entire bridal party was transported downtown to the church via an old fashioned trolley. While photographing the bridal party outside the church, a passing car stopped and a woman jumped out of the car and ran up to us. She lived in the house across the street and wondered if we would like to take pictures in her backyard. Mallory and Matt were totally up for exploring and we scored some sweet photo locations!
The church ceremony was short and sweet and rose petals were thrown by smiling guests as they exited. The reception was held at an old cotton warehouse a few blocks away. The walls were covered in graffiti and the tables were decorated with simple greenery. A live band kept the guests dancing the entire night.
