Their Couple Story:
Paul and I were on the way to Alabama to see my family for Christmas. We were driving separate cars because I was planning to spend Christmas Day with my family and he was going to go back to Augusta for Christmas with his family. About two hours into our drive, we made it to the edge of Atlanta. That’s when Paul called and said he needed some gas. We went off the exit to my college, Agnes Scott College, and Paul got gas at a station near the exit. After he filled up, he asked if I wanted to go see Agnes Scott decorated for Christmas. This was not out of the ordinary as we often stop at each other’s colleges to walk around and reminisce about our college days (Paul went to Georgia Tech and we met while we were in college).
We continued to Agnes Scott. We parked in the circle at the front of the college and strolled around the campus. It was freezing! When we circled back around near the cars, I started to head to mine but Paul stopped me. He asked which building it was that I had lived in when we met. I pointed out the staircase I used to have to walk him to when he would visit me. (It’s a Women’s college and men needed to be escorted through the dorms.) Paul walked me over to the steps and dropped to one knee!
After I said YES and cried, we went to the gazebo in the middle of the campus quad and called our families while being surrounded by the lights of the Christmas tree set up there. After phone calls, we ate a celebratory dinner in downtown Decatur and continued to drive (separately) to Alabama!
Photographer’s Note: Kristi and Paul were married at the historic Marion Thatcher Center in Augusta, GA. The wedding was traditional with unique touches. The Marion Thatcher Center was decked out with beautiful Christmas Décor. The couple love fencing, so they incorporated fencing swords into their ceremony and photos.
