Great Way to Spend an Afternoon
I had the chance this weekend to stop into Amelie’s, a cute, little, eclectic French bakery right in the heart of Atlanta. When you step through the doors you’re greeted by the delightful aromas of the wonderful house blend coffee served daily. An array of tables and couches pepper the room, while French Renaissance paintings and a mock Mona Lisa wearing sunglasses adorn the walls. Chandeliers constructed of cooking pots and clear link chains hang from the black industrial ceilings; and the fusion of urban Atlanta and a quirky historic French parlor make you feel right at home. It’s the perfect spot to have quiet conversations or formulate the next big idea as you tap away at the keys on your laptop. That’s why I had to spotlight Amelie’s – a unique French bakery that you’re sure to love.
While I was there, I had the pleasure of trying my very first macaroons. I was bold in asking for the jalapeño and the passion fruit flavors. I’ve heard that these little French cookies are delicious, but I wasn’t prepared for the sweet and savory tang that kick-started my taste buds. In contrast, the soothing taste of the house blend coffee made me feel right at home, as if I had brewed it in my own kitchen. It was like a warm hug on a tranquil Sunday afternoon which coaxed me to stay longer than I had anticipated. I took up residence at a corner table where I “people watched” through the large windows while savoring every sip.
Perfect Event Space
I was also able to take a look at the adjoining event space that can be used for small to medium gatherings and fell totally in love with its eccentric, lively style. It’s perfect for an intimate wedding/reception or other small function such as a bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, or bachelorette party. If you’re looking for a unique spot to hold a get-together and you want great food as part of the package, then check out Amelie’s. They’re sure to meet your approval, and the friendly, helpful staff are the “bees knees.”
And what bakery wouldn’t be complete without custom cakes.
